Pictures – Yeoville Johannesburg
Yeoville, is one of Johannesburg’s oldest suburb and it is in transitions, as it has been for more than a century. Predominantly a Jewish suburb in the 1970s, it has today a strong Pan-Africa feel, home for many African economic migrants. Yeoville has beat, and you can hear anything from Kawsa Kwasa (DRC Dance Music) to Zouk (Martinique). The suburb provides a good taster to African food, including Grilled Talipea, Fofu, Sadza, Injera and Attieke. Want to brush up on your French, Swahili, Yoruba, Amharic, Kirundi, Ibo or Wolof? You have come to the right place. See picture from a recent market visit.
